artrage!

Got hold of a nice little program called artrage, which, unfortunately, is relatively unknown. Doesn't have photoshop's advanced editing option or painter's vast selection of tools, but the things it does do, it does great.

Real cheap as well, the newest full version cost me 90$, nothing compared to the ridiculously high prices of both photoshop and painter.

trials and tribulations

I recently decided that photoshop knowledge, while being very useful by itself, is not enough if I really want to upgrade myself as an artist. So I decided to take a stab at the more traditional media, and am taking oil paint workshops. These are my first attempts.

It's a tricky medium, but I'm (very slowly) getting the hang of it.

alice

I have wanted to take a stab at designing Alice's wonderland for a while, but it never really came to be. So now I have some spare time available to invest in this.

This is the first basic sketch of Alice. I'm trying to be faithful to the story, and so my alice is more or less based on Alice Liddell, the little girl that was Lewis Carol's inspiration for the character.

self portrait

just a quick self portrait. I'm finding that it's a good thing to draw when you have no other interesting ideas.

my father- an experiment

I tried to see if I could draw a caricature of my father using just my imagination, no live modeling or use of references. It won't mean much to those who don't know him, but I think I did pretty well.

This is just a 20 min sketch, I'm going to finalize it and post the result here.
